Administrative & Outreach Project

Advanced Archival Management; Fall 2020

For my Advanced Archival Management course, I completed a combination Administrative and Outreach Project where I came up with the concept of a fictional archive or repository, created a collection policy, and designed outreach programming aimed at increasing awareness of the archive to a specific audience. I have included all four documents that were part of the project in order to contextualize the collection policy and outreach example.

Topic Sessions and Professional Practice Project

Advanced Archival Management; Fall 2020

The following two presentations and two PDFs are three small projects I completed on different topics relevant to the archive field. The first presentation about the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire's LaBelle Miller collection gives a brief overview of a unique archival collection to the Midwest area, how I interacted with this collection, and represents one of the first collections I worked with. The first PDF is about how an outreach project can go wrong when left unsupervised, using the example of the FBI's Vault. The second presentation and PDF are the final internship (officially called Professional Practice Project) I have completed as a LIS student and gives details on what I did in my internship.

Physical and Digital Collection Disaster Plans Research Paper & Presentation

Preservation Management; Fall 2019

This research was done to compare disaster plans for physical and digital collections. With the prevalence of digital materials in archives there is a need to create plans on how to recover them if disaster strikes. While looking into the topic I noticed there was a lack of information on DR plans for digital collections, hence why I wanted to dig deeper into this topic in a research paper.

The Effects of Employer Support on Secondary Traumatic Stress (STS)/Compassion Fatigue (CF) in LIS Professionals: A Research Proposal

Research Methods for Library and Information Science; Spring 2020

The topic of this research proposal came about when I was researching a different topic for this project. The terms Secondary Traumatic Stress and Compassion Fatigue intrigued me so I went looking to see what the LIS profession said about it. The deeper I looked the less I found on how STS/CF affects librarians and LIS professionals. Since this is something I feel is an incredibly important topic to the field, I created this research proposal with the intention of it being a foundational piece for future research on the topic in the profession.
